Moulds data

By purchasing a layout, you access the download of a zip folder containing two files*:

– A pdf file in A3 size which allows you to very easily visualize the layout of your mould without any specific software and to print it to scale if you wish.

– A file in dxf format which allows you to edit your layout using any 2D CAD tool such as LibreCAD (freeware) or QCAD (cheap). For example, you can take measurements, add or modify the objects, superimpose other layouts to visualize the differences, or even extract the gometrical data and send it to a machining or laser cutting workshop to manufacture the mould... The file is organized in several layers that you can activate or hide easily.

The layout includes:

- Complete outline of the mould, including the corners area

- Axles, frame and geometrical parameters (for geometrical layouts only)

- Cutting outline of corner blocks and end blocks

- Inner cuts of the form used for positioning the rib clamps

– Inscriptions: luthier’s, mould name, main dimensions, rib height markers. “Asymmetric” moulds are engraved on the sound board side and therefore they also include the inscription “Top side”. If necessary, the representation of the bottom side can be obtained by simply reversing the plot.

– Centimeter graduated axes, vertical and horizontal, allowing you to check and correct the scaling and possible X/Y distortions if you print the layout.

All these layouts have been established on the basis of reliable elements provided by official sources. The outlines are not interpreted but they have been "restored" to reproduce as closely as possible edge of the original moulds as they must have been at the time of their use. Depending on your construction project, you can choose between two types of layout: "asymmetrical" or "geometric".
